Nous sommes situés à 14 km de Villers Bretonneux et du Hamel, haut lieu de la 1ère guerre mondiale où les Australiens s'illustrèrent en stoppant la grande offensive allemande de mars 18 sur Amiens et en lançant en Juillet une attaque avec l'appui efficace des tanks. Ensuite, ils participèrent à la bataille d'Amiens aux côtés des Canadiens et des Britanniques et à la grande offensive du 8 Août ( le jour noir de l'armée allemande) .

Villers Bretonneux a entretenu des liens étroits avec l'Australie et chaque année, de nombreux Australiens viennent se recueillir ici sur la tombe d'un grand-père , d'un grand oncle disparu ici il y a plus de 90 ans.

L'Anzac Day se commémore fin Avril et plusieurs milliers de personnes se réunissent ici à la fin de la nuit. (Anzac : Australian and New Zealand Army Corps)

Le mémorial de Villers se visite toute l'année et l'ascension de la tour procure une belle vue sur les environs.

Le cimetière Adelaïde du Commenwealth à l'entrée de Villers est un autre point de visite et de recueillement et l'un de ses soldats inconnus y a été exhumé en 1993 pour devenir Le Soldat Inconnu à Canberra.

Dans le village voisin du Hamel, un autre mémorial australian, l'Australian Corps Memorial, a été édifié il y a peu et des panneaux explicatifs rappellent les faits du printemps 18.

As you can read on our visitors' book, we often welcome foreigners from Great Britain and Australia. They like our place and they appreciate the quality and the facilities that our B&B give them. Our geographic positionning could be good just as easily as Amiens to visit Villers-Bretonneux.

We are close by the stations to go to Villers Bretonneux (15min from station to station) and even to Paris (1h) We are close by the bus station to go to Amiens (between 7 min and 10 minutes).

If you visit the battlefields with a guide, the bus drops you off at the station where you meet your guide. If you wish to rent a car on the spot for one or two days, one of the cheapest agencies is close by.We have a secure car parking.

A quiet restaurant near the river Somme, called "the Préporus" proposes you good menus and it is not necessary to drive from our b&b. (this restaurant is closed on Sundays evening, on Mondays and on Tuesdays).

A lot of other restaurants in less than 3 km , propose carefully prepared dishes and we can help you to choose according to your taste and your budget.

If you prefer to spend a quiet evening and to prepare yourself your dinner, the supermarket is in less than 100 metres and the commun room is a nice place to have a pleasant moment. Our guests often take this opportunity when they travel for a long time.

We have got many maps and books about the great war in our library and as you can see with the photos, Richard visited a lot of places about all countries in this area (cemeteries, monuments, battlefields, commemorations, …). He can help you and bring you information if necessary . Our guests already know the most important but you can sometimes drive near a particular place without knowing….
